ICE import restriction — verify before ordering: Since 2024-01-29, Ethiopia's transport authority has restricted general/private import of vehicles under 10 seats with internal-combustion engines. Whether this restriction extends to commercial pickups, and whether PHEV/HEV models are exempt, has not been independently confirmed for every vehicle class — verify with us before placing an order for ICE-only models.
Ethiopia is LHD-only with no vehicle age ceiling, which is normally favorable — but a 2024 fuel-vehicle import restriction adds real uncertainty for pure-ICE models like the Tank 300 and most diesel pickups.
The Tank 500 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid is a plausible route around the restriction, but we recommend confirming current eligibility with us before committing to any Ethiopia order, ICE or hybrid.
Standard duty stack: ~35% base duty, tiered excise tax by engine displacement (roughly 60% for 1,300–1,800cc up to 100%+ for 3,000cc+), plus a 10% surtax.
