For overseas dealers and fleet buyers sourcing from China, the vehicle itself is only half of the transaction. The other half is documentation. A clean, complete document set is what moves a unit from a Chinese yard onto a vessel and through your destination customs without surprises. This post explains how RuggedRides Export handles that process for new pickups and used LHD 4x4 SUVs, and what buyers should prepare on their side.
Who we are and what we supply
RuggedRides Export is operated by Anhui Zhongsu Luosi Automobile Sales Co., Ltd in China. We export new China pickup trucks and 4x4 off-road SUVs from brands including GWM, JAC, Foton, Dongfeng, JMC, Maxus, ZX Auto and Changan, alongside others. Our new vehicle range is listed under pickups and 4x4 SUVs.
Separately, we hold a physical stock of used LHD 4x4 vehicles. This is real inventory, not a sourcing promise: each unit carries a stock number and real photos, so you can review the actual vehicle before committing. The used line includes Tank 300, Prado (2016-2019), BJ40, Land Cruiser, Patrol, Wrangler and Gladiator. You can browse the used LHD 4x4 stock at /4x4/.
All vehicles we supply are left-hand drive. We do not supply RHD. We ship to 30 markets across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Latin America; see destinations for the market list.
The core document set
Every shipment is built around four documents. These are the foundation your customs broker will ask for first:
- Export invoice — commercial invoice matching the order and the vehicle identification details.
- Packing list — line-by-line list of units, quantities and shipping marks.
- Bill of lading — issued by the carrier once the cargo is loaded.
- Certificate of origin — confirming Chinese origin, which many destinations require for duty assessment.
Depending on your market, your broker may also request destination-specific conformity or type-approval paperwork. Requirements differ by country and change over time, so confirm the exact list with your import broker early. Our export desk can coordinate with the inspection and certification parties you nominate.
New versus used: how pricing is quoted
New models are quoted with FOB ranges, so you can budget against a model line before finalising specification. Used units are price on request, because condition, mileage and stock availability vary unit by unit. For any figure that depends on your order — duty rates, VAT, transit times, warranty terms — the export desk confirms it per order. We deliberately do not publish fixed numbers that would not hold across 30 markets.
If you want to model landed cost, start with the calculator and then confirm the inputs with our team.
Inspection before deposit
For used stock, third-party inspection before deposit is available. This is the single most useful risk control for a dealer buying at distance. The sequence we recommend:
- Shortlist units from the used LHD 4x4 stock and request the stock numbers and photos.
- Nominate an inspection party, or ask us to arrange a third-party inspection.
- Review the inspection report against the listing.
- Place the deposit only after you are satisfied with the report.
For new vehicles, inspection can also be arranged before shipment if your purchase policy requires it.
Popular used LHD 4x4 lines
Buyers sourcing off-road and fleet 4x4 units tend to concentrate on a handful of models. Representative listings include:
- Used Prado — 2016-2019 units in our physical stock.
- Tank 300 4x4 — a newer platform popular with dealers building a modern 4x4 offer.
- BAIC BJ40 4x4 — a value-oriented off-roader.
- Nissan Patrol — a long-standing fleet and expedition favourite.
- Land Cruiser 300 / Prado 250 and Land Cruiser 70 — workhorse and utility options.
Availability changes as stock moves, so confirm current units with the export desk before quoting your own customers.
Shipping and destination requirements
We ship to 30 markets in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Latin America. Port choice, sailing schedule and transit time depend on the destination and the carrier allocation at the time of booking. Rather than publish indicative transit times that may mislead, we confirm routing and timing per order once the shipment is booked.
Practical rule for buyers: lock your destination compliance requirements before you place the deposit, not after. Conformity documents and type approvals are the most common cause of clearance delay.
Your import broker should confirm duty rates, VAT and any destination conformity requirements. Our desk supplies the export-side documents and coordinates with the parties you nominate.
A workable order sequence
- Define the requirement — model, configuration, quantity and destination market.
- Shortlist — new models from pickups and 4x4, or used units from the LHD 4x4 stock.
- Inspect — third-party inspection before deposit for used units.
- Confirm commercial terms — FOB range for new, price on request for used; duty, VAT, transit and warranty confirmed per order.
- Deposit and document — export invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin prepared for the shipment.
- Ship and clear — carrier booking, then destination clearance with your broker.
Where to start
If you are new to importing from China, read the overview at import and the common questions at answers. We will confirm availability, the applicable FOB range or used price on request, and the document set for your market.
